England's Lake District, Cumbria is a place where the  landscape is painted from a seasonal pallet of lush greens, vibrant blues, soothing yellows and burnt coppers and reds. It has long been treasured for its spectacular beauty made famous by the many great literary figures connected with the area.

The Lake District, is located in northwestern England. A diverse region, it emcompasses Carlisle and Hadrian's Wall, Kewsick and Western Lakes, Ullswater and Eden Valley, Alston and North Pennines, Coninston and Lakes Peninsula, Kendal and South Lakes, and Sedbergh and Yorkshire Dales.

The weather of the Lake District is seasonal. January through March are typically the coldest months, with snow on the fell tops. Summers are warm and dry. Autumn brings color to the region as the leaves change into warm hues of yellow, red, and orange. The rainiest months are November and December.

The Lake District was home to many great literary scholars, writers, and poets, including William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter. Museums recreate their lives and provide visitors more information about their work.
